NEAREST RELATIVE - A nearest relative is a term used in the Mental Health Act. It gives someone from your family rights and responsibilities if you are detained under the Act, on a community treatment order or a guardianship.

NEGATIVE AFFECTIVITY - Negative affectivity is a personality trait characterized by a tendency to perceive the world as threatening and to interpret various events or stimuli in a negative and threatening way. Individuals with negative affectivity experience a range of negative emotions, including nervousness, tension, worry, anger, scorn, revulsion, guilt, self-dissatisfaction, sense of rejection, and sadness. This trait is associated with a persistent experience of negative emotions across different situations and time periods and is often linked to feelings of dysphoria.

NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING – (NLP) Was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who believed that anyone could replicate their success by understanding the patterns of thought and behaviour in successful individuals. The term “neuro-linguistic programming” reflects the interplay between neurological processes, language, and behaviour patterns.

NON-BINARY - An umbrella term for a person who does not identify as only male, or only female, or who may identify as both.

NURSE PRACTITIONER - A nurse who has taken additional skills training to allow them to diagnose and prescribe certain medications for specific conditions.
