WRAP - See WELLNESS RECOVERY ACTION PLAN
WELLNESS RECOVERY ACTION PLAN - The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) was originally developed by Mary Ellen Copeland and a group of mental health service users who wanted to work on their own recovery. Over time the WRAP can become a useful tool that a person can use as a reminder and guide to maintain wellness and something they can turn to in times of difficulty. It is a practical tool to support a person through their recovery.
WINDOW OF TOLERANCE – In psychology the Window of Tolerance is a term coined by Daniel J. Siegel, a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, to describe the optimal emotional “zone” we can exist in, to best function and thrive in everyday life. On either side of the “optimal zone” are two other zones: the hyper-arousal zone and the hypo-arousal zone. The Window of Tolerance is characterised by a sense of groundedness, flexibility, openness, curiosity, presence, an ability to be emotionally regulated, and a capacity to tolerate life’s stressors.
WISE MIND - Is a mental state in which a person integrates their rational and emotional minds to make decisions based on logic, intuition, and their own values. A wise mind is considered a balance between the two states of mind, where a person can use their logical reasoning and emotional responses to make decisions and solve problems effectively.
